How much does it cost to join Amazon Vendor Central?

Joining Amazon Vendor Central does not involve any financial cost, since you are selling your product. However, becoming part of Amazon’s suppliers ends up having economic costs.

First of all, when you enter Amazon Vendor, you will need to set a Minimum Advertised Price or MAP. In addition, Amazon can cancel you if you do not meet their requirements.

How to join Amazon Seller?

Amazon Seller is open to all those people or businesses that want to sell their products on the great Marketplace platform. The first thing you will have to do is to decide which account plan you want to join: individual or professional.

Regarding the individual seller account, it is designed for those who want to start selling on Amazon and who are going to offer a maximum of 40 products per month. By choosing the individual plan, you will only have to pay Amazon when you make a sale, which in this case would be €0.99 per product.

As for the professional seller plan, this type of account can be present in all Amazon categories, create new products in the company’s listings or allow your products to be purchased by clicking on them. Here, the cost is €39 per month.

Finally, you will be able to create your seller account from your own customer account or with a new email address.

How much does Amazon Seller cost?

Beyond the fixed cost of the individual or professional account, when you become a seller on Amazon, you will have to pay certain fees.

  • Referral fee: refers to the percentage that the platform charges you per sale and is calculated by including shipping costs in the price. This percentage varies according to the product category. The minimum is 5% and the maximum is 45%.
  • Closing sales fee: this fee is payable only by individual seller accounts and is a closing cost of €0.99.

As for Seller Central, the fees are the referral fee, the closing fee, the sold items fee and the Professional Plan fee if chosen.

Regarding payment, within Amazon Vendor there are different options. The first option is to receive payment for the sale within 90 days. In case you want to receive payment in a shorter period, Amazon will keep 1% if the term is 60 days and 2% if the payment is made within the first 30 days.

In contrast, Amazon Seller makes payments within a minimum of 7 days and a maximum of 14 days. Depending on whether buyers pay before or after the order is placed, payment will be made by Amazon Payments, Inc. or Amazon Services LLC.

The final difference between vendor central and seller central is order delivery. By being part of Amazon Vendor, you don’t have to worry about shipping orders and making sure they arrive on time. However, with Amazon Seller, you can choose between putting it in the hands of Amazon Logistics or doing it yourself. If you pick the latter option, you will have to consider that failure to meet deadlines will result in a penalty.

The same goes for inventory. If you are a seller, you will have to consider your inventory and replenish it so as not to run out of products in stock. If you are a supplier, you will not have to worry about this issue.
